NOMINEE, 2026 PRIX GALIEN USA PATIENT FIRST AWARD IN HONOR OF MICHAEL J. FOX
A Wayfinder Patient Advocates Initiative
Patient self‑advocacy shouldn't start with a crisis.
It should start here.
The Wayfinder Continuum gives patients and families the knowledge, tools and support to take part in their care across a lifetime, and works with life sciences companies, health systems and employers to remove the friction patients face.

01 / The core thesis
A patient's ability to lead their care depends on two things: how well they've been equipped, and what the system makes room for. The Wayfinder Continuum works on both, equipping patients and families across a lifetime and helping institutions remove what stands in the way.
Information is necessary, but it is not enough. Every diagnosis arrives alongside a second, unnamed condition: the work of navigating care. Patients are capable of leading it. What they are rarely given is the preparation, support and room to do it.
Information to interpret, often in a language no one taught them, on a timeline they did not choose.
Records to gather, specialists who may not communicate, and a history the patient is expected to carry between every door.
Options to weigh, coverage to navigate, and choices too often made without them in the room.
The decision is theirs.
02 / How agency is built
01 / A voice, practiced early
My question matters.

Voice belongs in the exam room.
01 / Childhood
Builds patient agency in childhood, while expectations about healthcare are still forming. Children learn that their bodies, observations and questions belong in the conversation, and parents and caregivers learn how to make room for them. This stage reaches families through A Kids Book About Visiting the Doctor (DK/Penguin Random House) and the pediatric guidance in Patient Advocacy For Dummies.
For Institutional Leadership
Every diagnosis comes with a second job: navigating care. That work shows up in your numbers as trial attrition, readmissions, complaints and unused benefits. Your organization designs much of it, which means you can redesign it.
We see your programs from the patient's side, and we speak your leadership's language. Our advocates work alongside patients in real care every day. We translate what they see into changes your teams can make, backed by an ROI case your executives can act on, and prepare patients, caregivers and staff to work together.
Who we work with
Participants who cannot ask do not stay in trial.
Concerns go unreported, support programs go unused, and attrition arrives unexplained. The Continuum prepares participants to raise issues early and use the programs already funded for them, protecting retention and data integrity.
For clinical operations, patient engagement and access leadership
05 / The founder
DHA, MPH, BCPA, FAHM
Dr. Nichole Davis is a healthcare executive, Board Certified Patient Advocate, and founder of Wayfinder Patient Advocates. Her work brings together enterprise healthcare leadership and lifelong experience as a patient to address a fundamental challenge: how to make complex systems work better for the people they serve.
Dr. Davis has led operational improvements across some of healthcare's most complex settings: emergency department financial counseling and access, clinical trial execution for complex neurological conditions, infrastructure supporting multistate surgical operations, and managed care strategy. Each role showed her how organizational decisions shape the patient experience, and where operational change can improve care.
It also shaped a central conviction: much of the friction patients encounter is not inevitable. It is designed, and what is designed can be redesigned.
She founded Wayfinder Patient Advocates in 2020 to put that conviction into practice. Combining operational discipline with patient-centered navigation, she developed a repeatable methodology that helps patients act on their own behalf and helps organizations build patient agency into the way care is delivered.
A Fellow of the Academy for Healthcare Management, Dr. Davis is the author of Patient Advocacy For Dummies (Wiley) and the forthcoming A Kids Book About Visiting the Doctor (DK/Penguin Random House). Her leadership in health systems transformation and care navigation has been recognized by Modern Healthcare's Top 25 Emerging Leaders, Forbes 30 Under 30 Cleveland, and Crain's Cleveland Business Twenty in Their 20s.
She knows how the decision gets made. And what it costs the patient.
